The Student Press Law Center and the Associated Collegiate Press are proud to honor University of Texas-Dallas student journalists Gregorio Olivares Gutierrez and Maria Shaikh, along with the staff of The Retrograde, with the 2025 Reveille Seven Courage in Student Journalism Award.
The Student Press Law Center is proud to honor Alesandra Gonzales and Charlotte Hampton of Dartmouth College with the 2024 Reveille Seven Courage in Student Journalism Award. Also recognized as finalists for the award are Salomé Cloteaux at Indiana University and Hannah Epstein at Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges.
SPLC is proud to honor four Mountain View High School students with the 2024 Courage in Student Journalism Award for persevering against administrative censorship and retaliation to investigate sexual harassment at their school. The students used the experience to educate others about student press freedom, and two sued their district to vindicate their rights.

The 2020 Courage in Student Journalism recipient is BluePrints magazine at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Georgia, which pressed a local school board and newly appointed board member for honesty and transparency.
Tanvi Kumar, former editor-in-chief of Cardinal Columns at Wisconsin’s Fond du Lac High School and co-editors Gillian McGoldrick and Reed Hennessy of The Playwickian at Pennsylvania’s Neshaminy High School will share the Courage award, presented annually to recognize students who show exceptional fortitude in overcoming adversity to bring important stories to the public.
