PlumHutchinson, KS 67501President File,The members of the Kansas Collegiate Media would like to express our support of the Collegian and the student journalists at Hutchinson Community College. Seizure of newspapers is an obvious violation of the First Amendment as is cancelling the final issue of the Collegian. We support due process for the fair review of facts before coming to a determination regarding the suspension of Alan Montgomery. We are concerned that members of your administrative team and the college staff interfered with the initial distribution of student newspapers and that you attempted to shut down the newspaper during the academic semester. We stand in support of student journalism and the First Amendment.Members of Kansas Collegiate MediaStacy Sparks, Southwestern College, President of Kansas Collegiate MediaMeg Smith, Cowley College, Immediate Past PresidentRegina Cassell, Washburn University, Second Vice-PresidentAmy Chastain, Butler Community College, SecretaryCorbin Crable, Johnson County Community College, TreasurerKevin Page, Benedictine CollegeChristine Crouse-Dick, Bethel CollegeAmy DeVault, Wichita State UniversityDavid Silverman, Kansas Wesleyan UniversityMax McCoy, Emporia State UniversityDave Bostwick, Baker UniversityJosh Letner, Pittsburg State UniversityGerri Berendzen, editorial advisor, The University Daily KansanElaine Bieberly, Benedictine College
