WASHINGTON, D.C. — Current and potential students should soon haveeasy access to campus crime statistics through a Department of Educationonline database.
Officials from the DOE began compiling campus crime statistics fromcolleges and universities in August for collection in the database, whichwill give students the opportunity to view crime information from collegesand universities around the nation in one place.
The DOE will present the data to Congress in December. The informationwill be available on a DOE Web site the department will make availableafter it concludes collection in October.
The database will be available at http://www.nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cool/starting September 15, 2000.
