The law recognizes that everyone has a legal right to simply be left alone. On the other hand, however, the law also recognizes that at some point a person's right to privacy can give way to the public's right to be informed about issues or actions that might affect them. Invasion of privacy law is very often about balancing these two sometimes competing interests.
