New Jersey school board proposes new publications policies following principal's censorship

According to the proposed policy, the Highlands Regional High School District “may exercise editorial control over the style and content of student expression in school-sponsored publications.” The proposed revision would also require publications to “foster a wholesome school spirit and support the best traditions of the school,” train students in journalism and “assist with the district’s public information program.”

Chicago Public Schools failed to respond to public records requests in a 'timely manner,' lawsuit alleges

The Better Government Association, a non-profit government watchdog group, and the NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV, filed the suit on Sept. 5 in Cook County Circuit Court after the school district “willfully and intentionally violated FOIA by failing to respond to FOIA Requests.”
