This school year marks the 50th anniversary of the Student Press Law Center. Since our founding in the fall of 1974, we have fought for and protected the rights of generations of student journalists and their advisers.
With the disruption to the local news ecosystem in recent years, student journalists have taken on the increased role of covering local and state government and our elections. High school and college students are now producing consequential journalism from well beyond their campus gates, and they face the same legal risks as their professional counterparts and deserve access to the same legal support.
Join us in championing the importance of student journalism in our democracy by engaging with our programs and initiatives and supporting our work.
