Nabiha Syed is assistant general counsel at Buzzfeed, based in New York City. She was named to the position in 2015.
Prior to her current role, she was an associate at Levine Sullivan Koch & Schulz, LLP, which she joined after a fellowship in the legal counsel’s office at The New York Times. Since 2015, she has served as an Information Society Project Fellow at Yale Law School, where her research focuses on new media technologies, surveillance, and freedom of information laws.
Syed is also a co-founder of the Media Freedom and Information Access Clinic at Yale Law School. She holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, graduating in 2010, and an M.St. in Comparative Media Law from Oxford University, which she attended as a Marshall Scholar. She graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 2007.
