Holly Speck is a senior at the University of Richmond, where she studies journalism and anthropology. She most recently worked for Richmond Magazine as a social media and editorial intern, where she live tweeted stories, managed social media content, and produced original stories. Previously, she interned with The New York Times reporter, Ian Urbina, as a research and social media intern for his series The Outlaw Ocean, which focused on ocean law and human rights. Holly co-started the first broadcast journalism club at her university – Arachnomedia, and is very intent on exploring how digital media can produce immediate and interesting forms of content. Her interests include student journalism and activism, freedom of speech and how social media can effectively be used as an instrument for social changes.
