Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey are investigative reporters at the New York Times. Jodi has focused on the workplace in her reporting, and particularly the treatment of women, covered two presidential campaigns, and is the author of The Obamas. Megan has focused much of her attention on the treatment of women and children, and, in 2014, as a reporter with Reuters News, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting. Jodi and Megan shared numerous honors for breaking the Harvey Weinstein story, including a George Polk Award, and, along with colleagues, the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. Julia Maciejak is a senior at Townsend Harris High School and one of the editors-in-chief of The Classic, the school’s student run newspaper. Her work with investigating educator sexual misconduct began last year when she was the managing editor and her reporting has received great recognition.
Jasmine Palma is a senior at Townsend Harris High School and one of the editors-in-chief of The Classic, the school’s student-run newspaper. She has earned recognition for her reporting on allegations of educator sexual misconduct and an investigation into the air purification units in DOE classrooms and previously was the science and technology editor when she covered the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ryan Eng is a senior at Townsend Harris High School and member of the school’s student newspaper, The Classic. In his reporting, he alongside his fellow editors-in-chief have investigated the air purifiers installed throughout their school system and the circumstances surrounding educator sexual misconduct and preventative training in schools.
Katina Paron, MJE, lives at the intersection of teens and journalism. She is the author of “A NewsHound’s Guide to Student Journalism” and was a senior project editor on The Trace’s award-winning gun violence series produced by youth reporters, “Since Parkland.” She teaches at Hunter College (NYC) and manages the Teach for Chicago Journalism program at Medill (Chicago).
