The American Society of Newspaper Editors, with a generous grant from theDonald W. Reynolds Foundation, is seeking 175 high school teachers from aroundthe country to attend an expense-paid, two-week journalism institute that ithopes will strengthen scholastic newspapers and spark a passion forjournalism.
Teachers from high schools that lack scholastic media or have strugglingjournalism programs are encouraged to apply. There is no cost to the teacher orhigh school.
The application deadline is February 29.

In addition to traditional journalism topics and practicaladvice from veteran student media advisers, media law is a big component of thetraining and SPLC representatives have traditionally conducted comprehensiveworkshops on libel, copyright, privacy, censorship and other commontopics.
