A New Hampshire student plans to sue Londonderry High School after the administration and yearbook staff refused to publish the boy’s senior picture, which shows him posing outside with a shotgun in a navy hunter’s vest.
Blake Douglass, 17, and his lawyer, Penny Dean, will file a First Amendment suit against the Londonderry School District by the end of October, Dean said.
The dispute began at the beginning of the school year when Douglas’s mother was told by one of the yearbook advisers that the photo probably would not run in Reflections, the student-produced yearbook, Londonderry Principal James Elefante said.
Elefante said he supported that decision, deeming the photo “inappropriate,” and that the student yearbook staff and the school board agreed.
