Koala‘s suit dismissed

CALIFORNIA ‘ An independent student newspaper at the University of California at San Diego agreed to dismiss its lawsuit against the university. The Koala was seeking $1 million in damages from the university for administrators’ repeated attempts to silence the satirical publication.

Two staff members had been charged in May with disturbing a gathering while trying to cover a meeting of a Chicano rights group. The campus judicial boards ruled that there was insufficient evidence and dismissed the charges.
