Newspaper may be able to intervene in case

ILLINOIS — A federal appellate court said in August that it willallow two state newspapers to argue that a settlement between Lake LandCollege and one of its former vice presidents should not be sealed. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit gave the MattoonJournal Gazette and the Charleston Times-Courier another chanceto prove to a district court that the information surrounding the settlementbetween the college and Goble Jessup, a former vice president, should beopen to the public.
