A new program sponsored by one First Amendment and severalstudent media groups will honor high schools that embrace FirstAmendment values and encourage students to exercise their rights.Schools selected by the program will be named First AmendmentSchools. Applications for the program were mailed to high schoolsacross the nation to be completed by student newspaper editorsand their advisers. The deadline for submission of applicationsis June 30.
The First Amendment Schools project is sponsored by The FreedomForum’s First Amendment Center, the Journalism Education Association,the National Scholastic Press Association, the Columbia ScholasticPress Association and the Quill and Scroll Society.
