Police arrest football players for vandalizing reporter’s car

\nINDIANA — Sixteen Greenwood High School students were arrested\nin September for vandalizing the car of a classmate who wrote\na column in the school newspaper criticizing the football team.\n

Several of the students charged in the incident were members\nof the football team.

Fifteen students were charged with felony criminal mischief\nand conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, said Johnson County\nDeputy Prosecutor Wade Wallace. They face up to 180 days of detention,\ncommunity service and fines of $2,000.

An 18-year-old student who has been charged as an adult could\nface up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine. Wallace said it\nis likely that the student will only receive probation because\nhe does not have a criminal history.

Wallace said none of the students charged have said why they\nshot out the windows of the student’s truck and his family’s car.
