- Freedom Forum: The Freedom Forum serves as an international center for dialogue and debate on a variety of free expression issues.
- Freedom Forum First Amendment Center: A forum for the study and exploration of free-expression issues, including freedom of speech, of the press and of religion, the right to assemble and petition the government.
- International Women's Media Foundation: The IWMF's mission is to strengthen the role of women in the news media around the world, based on the belief that no press is truly free unless women share an equal voice.
- Investigative Reporters and Editors: A professional organization for journalists and journalism educators. IRE produces a variety of journalism resources.

- National Freedom of Information Coalition: a coalition of state freedom of information groups.
- National Institute for Computer Assisted Reporting: Provides information to reporters and news organizations on computer-assisted reporting.
- National Paralegal College First Amendment Page: A primer on various First Amendment issues.
- Newspaper Association of America: In addition to general information of interest to journalists, the NAA site includes a comprehensive list of on-line newspapers.
- Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press: a nonprofit organization that assists reporters and editors for commercial media and produces publications on a multitude of press law issues. Their website is one of the more useful on the Internet for journalists.
- Society of Professional Journalists: the largest professional association of journalists in America. SPJ sponsors student chapters at colleges and universities throughout the country.
- The Freedom of Information Center: Based at the University of Missouri, the center maintains information on a variety of freedom of speech, press and information issues.
